Sandy was a consultant with Rabobank’s Agribusiness Consulting and Research Services (1998 – 2000). Upon leaving Rabobank, Sandy became a Sales and Systems Development Manager with Agribuys, a software company selling procurement software to the perishable food industries in Australia, Europe and the US (2000 - 2002). In March 2002, Sandy joined the team of Holmes Sackett & Associates, where he worked as a consultant. In July 2007, Sandy and John Francis acquired the business to become co-directors of Holmes Sackett Pty Ltd.
What do you enjoy about working at HS?
The most enjoyable think about working at HS is the people. This includes clients, current employees, past employees and directors. We are very fortunate in this small business to work with and attract great people – probably made easier by the fact we work in the agricultural industry.
What do you find rewarding about your work?
I have learnt more about farm business management, and business management, in the last 6 years than I learnt in a lifetime of living in a farm business, academic study or working in agribusiness. This is not to say that the previous time was wasted but rather the actual application of previous knowledge and the acquisition of further knowledge in an applied environment with great mentors and critically thinking colleagues leads to accelerated learning. When you can transfer this knowledge to help a client in a small, or large way – that is rewarding.
